Lest They Be Forgotten "Korea - The Forgotten War"
Korea - 1950-1953. The fighting in Korea was different than any other war. "We went to Korea with a World War II mentality."
The Chosin Reservoir was where the Marines first saw action against the North Koreans and the Chinese. The terrain was different than the island fighting in the Pacific. It was right at the end of Nov. 1950 that the Chinese came out in force.
"The Chinese were in the number of 200,000 and we were 12,000. They always came in with bugles blowing, whistles blowing, and shouting. They scared the hell out of you! When the Chinese finally hit us we took a terrible amount of casualties. They told us it was 35 degrees below zero, 40 mile an hour wind, and it was snowing. In order to keep from freezing to death you had to keep moving. You didn't stop."
It was so cold that many men lost their feet and their hands. Some froze to death. The Corpsmen held the morphine surrets in their mouths in order to be able to have some morphine that they could use to treat the wounded.
"The Forgotten War," will be remembered through this stunning account and griping stories.
