Different by Design: Columbus, Indiana
Columbus, Indiana may be a town of only 39,000 people, but it ranks among the top six of America's "biggest" cities when it comes to architecture, alongside Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Boston, and Washington, DC. Six of its buildings, built between 1942 and 1965, are National Historic Landmarks, and 60 other buildings sustain the town's reputation as a showcase of modern architecture. Different by Design: Columbus, Indiana is an exploration of these distinctive buildings - their special features, their architects, and the community that lives among them. The architects themselves, along with friends, family, colleagues, and clients recount how this small American town came to be recognized as an architectural mecca.
